UJIHIKARI embodies the refined elegance and vibrant clarity that have long defined Kyoto’s tea heritage.

Cultivated in Wazuka, Kyoto, and sourced from a single origin, this first-harvest matcha is crafted exclusively from the Ujihikari cultivar. Originally developed for premium Gyokuro, Ujihikari is celebrated for its vivid green color, elegant umami, and remarkable clarity, reflecting the quiet sophistication that defines Kyoto tea.

Grown in Wazuka, one of Kyoto’s most renowned tea-growing regions, the tea gardens benefit from cool morning mists and pronounced day-to-night temperature variations. These natural conditions foster remarkable aromatic complexity, vibrant freshness, and the refined character for which Wazuka tea is celebrated.

Carefully shade-grown before harvest and patiently stone-milled into an exceptionally fine powder, the tea develops a silky texture and graceful structure, allowing the cultivar’s natural purity and balance to shine.

Fresh leafy aromatics lead into rich umami, gentle sweetness, and a delicate, well-integrated bitterness. Notes of steamed greens, sweet pea, and fresh chestnut unfold across a smooth, creamy body, leading to a clean, lingering finish with remarkable clarity and quiet elegance.

Elegant, vibrant, and quietly refined, UJIHIKARI reflects the timeless craftsmanship and enduring character of Wazuka’s tea tradition.
